Reporting Violations
A question arose at a recent community watch meeting as to where you should report violations. The answer is that it depends on the violation. If the problem is a violation of the NC law, then you should dial 911 and the sheriff will respond. This might include things such as strangers loitering in your neighborhood or peeping Toms.
If the problem is a violation of the Lockwood Folly covenants, then you need to report this to the POA. Forms for this purpose are available in the entrance to the Tin Cup or from POA members. You must sign the form, but your name will not be disclosed unless the case goes to court. The Community Standards Committee headed by Joe Troiano meets monthly to review these reports. Violators are sent a written notification to correct the violation. If they do not comply in the prescribed time, then fines are levied. Some of the most common covenant violations are listed below.
- Failure to light the front yard pole lamp
- Not cleaning up after your dog
- Not keeping your dog leashed outside your home
- Parking on soft surfaces rather than on driveways
- Allowing unlicensed drivers to operate a golf cart
- Failure to keep leaves in your yard and beds raked

Budget and Long Range Planning
Beginning on July 1, 2009, the POA Board of Directors will strictly enforce Article VI, Section 1 (A), of the Lockwood Folly POA By-Laws regarding payment of dues and fees (boat storage fees and lot maintenance fees). All Members who are delinquent in the payment of assessments and/or fees for more than 90 days will have their voting rights and rights to use the recreational amenities suspended until the debt is paid in full. The Members will receive written notice of suspensions from the Board of Directors.
