Pool

Every year we invest in maintaining our pool. Over the years the incidence of leaks, cracks, pump malfunctions, electrical problems, deck infrastructure problems, etc. increase. Recall that our hot tub was removed because of leaks in the buried water pipes that could not be repaired.

We know the pumps will need replacement in the next few years. We do not know what other major problems will arise, or when, but we know that they will, and we need to be financially prepared for them. It is reasonable to assume that in the next 10 – 15 years, we will invest significant individual sums in the pool, and its useful life will ultimately end, requiring replacement.

Our strategic plan has budgeted for major pool expenditures, and finally replacement in 2023 – 2024. Since our plan is to rehabilitate and keep our existing pool as long as possible, for planning purposes we will continue to reserve funds for unexpected and costly problems, and update the plan as new information is available. We will not consider pool replacement until it is absolutely the last resort.
